Presidents from the seven German Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS7) visited Baker Labs September 13, 2011. The UAS7 is partnering with ESF and our ERE Department to build an exchange program for undergraduate students, graduate students, and possibly faculty members. This UAS7 team showed keen interest in having our students study in Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Cologne (Koln), Munich (Munchen), Munster, Osnabruck. A testament to their dedication was the time the 7 presidents spent touring our Baker Lab teaching and laboratory facilities, meeting with our faculty and students, and brainstorming flexible exchange initiatives. ERE students interested in studying abroad will find programs and courses comparable to those here at ESF – in environmental engineering, water resources engineering, geospatial engineering, and agricultural (ecosystem) engineering. Almost all courses are or could be offered in the English language, yet the experience would emphasize German cultural immersion. The UAS7 philosophy is similar to ours, where students engage in theory and practice so they can lead by example!
